You can avoid the eye strain headache by avoiding the circumstances that cause the condition. Try to avoid activities such as reading in dim light, staring at a computer screen, using corrective lenses that are not right for you, and not using lenses when you need them. When you are in such circumstances, the tiny muscles around the eyes try to contract in an attempt to help you see better. The contraction results headaches and triggers muscles in the face and scalp to contract as well-all making for a pretty powerful eyestrain headache.

Another way to reduce the eye strain is relaxation. You can do simple relaxation by taking deep breaths, closing your eyes for a few moments, and allowing them to relax. If you work in front of a computer, you can look around and away from the computer three or four times an hour.

If you always sit at your office, you should vary your sitting position as much as possible. Take a break when you feel tired. This will help you release both the physical and psychological tension that could lead to a headache. You also can have a simple exercise by rotating your shoulder. Correct sitting position can reduce strain.

A cold towel can be used to reduce your headache. Put the cold towel on the painful area, the back of your neck, the base of the skull, and the top of your head. In order to have the cold towel, you just put the towel in a freezer for at least 10 minutes.

Hot shower is also powerful in reducing headache. When you get home and feel very exhausted, you had better get hot shower. After you have hot shower, you will feel better. At least, you can ease your headache pain.
