Mexico man arrested on drug conspiracy charges – News – The Mexico Ledger – Mexico, MO

Audrain County Sheriff Matt Oller, announced that a federal jury found a Mexico man guilty last week for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy operated in the Audrain County area from 2014 to 2016.

According from a news release from the sheriff’s office, Douglas Lee Druger, 39, of Mexico, was found guilty in a six-day trial presided over by United States District Judge Catherine D. Perry; of one count of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine, possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possession of methamphetamine with the intent of distributing methamphetamine.

Under federal statutes, Druger is subject to a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in federal prison for the conspiracy and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute counts. For the first count of possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; Druger is subject to a mandatory minimum of a five-year federal prison sentence consecutive to all other counts. For the second count of possession of a firearm in the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime; Druger is subject to mandatory minimum of a 25-year federal prison sentence consecutive to all other counts. The total minimum prison term Druger could receive is 40 years in Federal prison.

According to the news release, Druger is scheduled to be sentenced in December 2017.

Druger was arrested as part of a long term Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) Investigation. The Drug Enforcement Administration, Missouri State Highway Patrol, East Central Drug Task Force, and the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Dowd III and Michael Riley.

The OCDETF program is a joint federal, state and local cooperative approach to combat drug trafficking and is the nation’s primary tool for disrupting and dismantling major drug trafficking organizations, targeting national and regional level drug trafficking organizations, and coordinating the necessary law enforcement entities and resources to disrupt or dismantle the targeted criminal organization and seize their assets.

As part of the investigation officers executed search warrants on December 10, 2015 at multiple locations in Audrain County, Missouri. During the searches, a significant amount of Methamphetamine, Firearms, United States Currency, and Paraphernalia used in the trafficking of controlled substances was seized. On August 17, 2016, officers executed a search warrant at the residence of Douglas Druger in Mexico. During this search warrant, officers seized methamphetamine, a firearm and paraphernalia used in the trafficking of controlled substances.
